Marine Corps Engineer School

Spending his formative years in Oregon and California, Colonel Wisherd enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1992 and attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and was subsequently selected for the Meritorious Commissioning Program in 2002. Following his initial training as a Combat Engineer and Combat Engineer Officer, he has held a variety of billets in the operating forces, supporting establishment, and the joint community.
 
Colonel Wisherd’s operating forces assignments include Combat Engineer, Squad Leader and Guide, Marine Wing Support Squadron-372 where he deployed in support of Joint Task Force-6; Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander, 7th Engineer Support Battalion where he deployed in support of Joint Task Force-North; Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer, Combat Service Support Battalion-1 where he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 2-1; Company Commander, Combat Logistics Battalion-7 where he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 5-7; Division Engineer, 3d Marine Division; Executive Officer, Combat Assault Battalion; Commanding Officer, Marine Wing Support Squadron-272; and Assistant Chief of Staff G-4, Marine Forces Reserve.
 
Colonel Wisherd’s other assignments include Facilities Maintenance Inspector and Color Sergeant, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Water Survival Instructor, Series Commander, Company Commander, and Assistant Director and Director of Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego; Company Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, and Leadership Instructor, United States Naval Academy; Company Commander, Utilities Instruction Company; Executive Officer, Marine Corps Engineer School; and Joint Operations Center Chief of Operations and Future Operations Branch Chief, United States Africa Command.
  
Colonel Wisherd is a graduate of Basic Combat Engineer 7-93, Corporal’s Course 10-95, Sergeant’s Course 5-97, Journeyman Combat Engineer Course 2-97, Primary Marksmanship Instructor School, Drill Instructor School 2-99, Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival, Combat Engineer Officer 2-03, Special Education Program (Leadership Development Specialist and Education Officer), Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Joint Engineer Operations Course, Curriculum Developer Course, Formal School Management Course, College of Naval Warfare, Joint Logistics Course, and the University of Maryland where he holds a Master of Professional Studies in Leadership Education and Development and is an Alumni of Hawaii Pacific University where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Finance.
